Find something part-time to add just a little income, have the grandchildren for an extended amount of time in the summer, some traveling once my wife retires, complete bucket list items around the house and personally, write a book and learn to play the bass guitar my wife brought me several years ago, visit with some of my friends who are currently enjoying retirement. I look forward to this next phase of my life. (I equate it to graduating high school).
My family loves my baking. I want to have the time to try some challenging recipes for them to try out. I want to someday put a recipe book together of all my favorite recipes for my family.
I would like to put my feet up and read for as long as I desire! I would also like to spend the hot, Texas summer months elsewhere — Alaska, perhaps?
Restore a classic truck! Then buy a motor home so my wife and I can travel the lower 48 at our own pace!.
The day after we retired, we left on our sailboat “Island Girl” for our planned 1 1/2 year sailing trip through the Caribbean. Four and 1/2 years later, we have visited 34 countries in the Caribbean and South America, met the most wonderful people, visited beautiful places and learned new things like scuba diving. Living together with my wife on a relatively small boat brought us even closer together.
We have been traveling. We went to Florida last December and are leaving for Utah next week to pick up our granddaughter. We will stay a week and explore Salt Lake City. In May, we went to Maine. We are planning to go to Virginia this fall. I hope to rent a cabin in McGee Creek State Park, Oklahoma, in January. I love traveling and exploring new places.
We plan on moving from the city out to the county, where we can sit on our porch and see fireflies and stars light up the night. I plan to volunteer in my new community when we are not travelling around the country, taking our boat to new lakes, and going on cruises to exotic places. And of course, we’ll pop in on our kids from time to time to visit with, and spoil, our grandchildren.
I am so looking forward to visiting family. Since most of my family were military, we are spread out and it has been hard to see everyone. I also have seven grandkids and I want to spend as much time as possible with them. TCDRS has made me feel very secure about retiring.
My dream is to first of all sleep late! I also want to volunteer for the caring hands program at our local hospital where you can hold and cuddle the little babies that are born premature.
